What problems could my dental health cause?
There are new findings which support something that dental professionals have suspected for a long time – infections in the mouth can cause problems in other parts of the body.
Problems which may be caused or made worse by poor dental health include heart disease, strokes, diabetes, giving birth to a premature or low-birth-weight baby and respiratory (lung) disease…. Just to name a few!
If you are serious about your health – and your teeth – you will need to exercise, eat a healthy, balanced diet and keep to a normal body weight. Our three simple rules for oral health will not only keep your mouth healthy, but they will keep your body healthy too:
- Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day using a fluoride toothpaste
- Cut down on how often you have sugary foods and drinks
- Visit the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
